A video circulating on social media platforms recently captures the moment Afrobeats singer, Wizkid’s hit song “Wiz Party” was rejected at a party. The video shows Wizkid’s song playing and the attendees stopping dancing and returning to their seats.
The MC and hype man expressed shock that everyone stopped dancing at the same time and tried to keep the energy going. Despite their efforts, the Wizkid song failed to capture the attention of the attendees and the Disc Jockey switch to Kizz Daniel’s One Ticket featuring Davido.
As soon as the Davido featured song came on, most of the attendees jumped out of their seats and began dancing once again.
The incident raises questions about the current trends in the Afrobeats genre of music. For many years, Wizkid has been a major figure in the Afrobeats scene having released several top-charting hits and collaborated with some of the biggest names in the music industry. However, it appears that his songs aren’t appreciated as much as they used to be.
