First picture of #British mum found strangled with phone cord in Mallorca as husband arrested - Mirror


Paramedics battled in vain to save Jane Lyttle, 49, after emergency services were called to an apartment on the holiday island in the early hours          

This is the British mum found strangled to death with a mobile phone cord at an apartment in Mallorca.

Emergency services were called to a flat in the coastal resort of Calviá at around 3.20am on Saturday morning.



Paramedics battled for around an hour to save Jane Lyttle, 49, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband Warren Lyttle, 50, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains is in police custody.

Local emergency services said a man had called them and allegedly confessed to killing his wife.

The incident at the Siesta Apartments complex has shocked the holiday island.

Initial investigations show the woman had marks to her neck and appears to have been strangled, police said.

It is understood the Lyttles have lived in Mallorca for more than a decade and have a 19-year-old daughter Ann-Marie.

The couple previously lived in Hendon, North West London.

Tonight Warren Lyttle's mum Joan, 71, told The Mirror she in "complete shock" at the news.

Spain's Guardia Civil has now taken over the investigation and Mr Lyttle is being held in custody.

He is expected to go before a magistrate tomorrow or Monday.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "Following the death of a British national in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, we are in contact with the local authorities and are providing support to the family at this difficult time."
