Nobody was killed in Bayelsa rerun election – Police } TheNation


The police on Saturday denied claims that over 10 persons suspected to be militants and political thugs were killed during the supplementary elections held in Southern Ijaw local government area and other 101 polling units across Bayelsa State.
It was initially reported that some of the victims died in Ekeremor and Nembe local government areas in their failed efforts to hijack electoral materials in favour of their candidates.

The Peoples Democratic Party sources had claimed that 12 persons including four policemen and two soldiers were killed, adding that their bodies were deposited at a morgue in Bomadi General Hospital.

The state governor, Seriake Dickson, also said at least 12 people were killed during election violence on Saturday.
