Pro-Gun Model, 31, Shot In The Back By Son, 4, After Leaving Gun Lying In Car Backseat - HollyWoodLife

A gun-loving mom in Florida was accidentally shot in the back by her 4-year-old son while she was driving. The negligent mother had left the loaded .45-caliber pistol on the floor of her truck, accessible to the toddler. He could have shot himself!
This Florida mom is very lucky to be alive. High-profile pro-gun activist, Jamie Gilt, 31, was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the back by her 4-year-old son while she was driving. She reportedly left the loaded gun within arms reach of her child — so horrible!

While Jamie was driving, her four-year-old boy picked up a loaded .45 semi-automatic handgun from the back floor, pointed it towards her and fired. The shot went right through her driver’s seat and directly into her back. Jamie wound up slowing to a stop, where a deputy noticed her truck and horse trailer at a standstill. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department released a news release that stated, the officer “observed an adult female in the driver’s seat motioning to him as if she needed assistance.

The deputy ran to the vehicle and quickly determined that the driver had been shot.” Jamie was then rushed to hospital in Gainesville, Florida, where she was in stable condition. Thankfully the little boy was not harmed, and he was later turned over to relatives.

Ironically enough, on Feb. 13, Jamie shared a photo on her “Gun Sense” Facebook page with the quote: “My right to protect my child with my gun trumps your fear of my gun.” Needless to say, who is going to protect you Jamie from your idiocy? Whether you are pro-guns or not, leaving a deadly weapon near a child is beyond moronic.
As of right now, the Florida Department of Children and Family Services is in an “ongoing” investigation of how the toddler got his hands on the weapon. How reckless could you be?
