Fans of Diddy’s music are not going to be happy about this! The 46-year-old mogul admitted in a shocking interview that he’s going to retire from music after the his next album drops. He wants to dedicate “100 percent” of his time to doing films, so get ready to see Diddy’s on the big screen a lot more!
“I’m going to put out my last album and devote 100 percent of my time to doing films,” Diddy told Cigar Aficionado magazine. “I want to stop at a great place. And a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it once last time.”
Diddy’s last album, No Way Out 2, was announced in Nov. 2015. The album does not have a release date. At the time, he said the album would be his “last and final album,” but this is the first time he’s said he will be moving on to movies for good.
Diddy said that he wants this final album to be “the most honest and best that [he] can.
” He’s aiming for this album to leave a lasting legacy. “When I’m gone, only the songs will survive,” he said in the interview. “I know I’m making music that will live on. I don’t go into the studio just to be hot or to hear myself on the radio. Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie – part of them lives on in their music, even though they’re not here anymore. That’s really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion.”
The rapper kicked off his music career with No Way Out in 1997. His most recent album was Last Train To Paris in 2010.
