Imo State Police Command says it has got wind of a clandestine plan by some politicians to recruit touts ahead of the re-run elections scheduled to hold July 23, 2016, in the state.

According to a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, a deputy superintendent of police, DSP, the Command would not hesitate to deal ruthlessly with those found culpable.

“Intelligence report at the disposal of the Imo State Police Command reveals that some politicians in the state, are recruiting cultists and thugs from within and outside the state and are holding nocturnal meetings in hotels and other secret places with intent to scuttle the conduct of the forth-coming Imo North Senatorial and other House of Assembly re-run elections scheduled for July 23, 2016,” Enwerem said.

The Command equally warned politicians in the state, to desist from any act capable of disrupting the peaceful election process in the state.

“The Command will not hesitate to deal with any politician(s) involved in any criminal act. Parents and guardians are also advised not to allow their children or wards to be used as tools by politicians”, the PPRO said.
