'The baby could be born with cystic fibrosis': Pregnant Stephanie Davis reveals concerns for unborn child after revealing her bump for the first time

She showed off her pregnancy bump for the first time and Stephanie Davis has spoken out about her fears for her unborn baby.

In an interview with OK! magazine, the former Hollyoaks star, 23, who has separated from her ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell, said her baby could be born with cystic fibrosis.

She said: 'I have the cystic fibrosis gene and if Jeremy is a carrier too then the baby will be born with it. He is going to give a blood sample then we'll know for sure.'

According to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, it's a life-limiting inherited condition caused by a faulty gene that controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells.

This causes mucus to gather in the lungs and digestive system and creates a range of challenging symptoms.

However, Stephanie also said she credits her unborn child with saving her life after her recent love split:

She said: 'I wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't for this baby. It's been the worst time of my life but this baby has saved my life - I was suicidal but it gave me something to live for.'

Aside from  a war of words with Jeremy on Twitter on Monday, the pair are no longer on speaking terms.
