EFCC to grill Jibrin this week over N418m in contracts

Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have revealed that they are set to once again grill the former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin.

According to a Punch report, Jibrin will be questioned over a petition alleging that he had fraudulently awarded contracts in the amount of N418 million to firms linked to him.

The petition, which was filed by the Anti-corruption Unit of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, claimed that 10 contracts had been awarded to 5 companies on the same day.

Notes within the contracts revealed instructions to merely make supplies to "Kano State", while the purpose of each contract, its intended location of service and names of the recipients were not mentioned.

Each contract document, however, is reported to have had mention of Jibrin's name, Today reports.

Arrangements for Jibrin to meet with EFCC operatives have since been put in place and will proceed later this week.
