The 1966 World Cup had Bobby Moore hoisted on the shoulders of the England team holding aloft the famous trophy.
Boxing has Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston fist clenched, while the 2012 Olympic Games in London had Mo Farah‘s ‘MoBot’.
Well, we have an early contender for the 2016 edition in Rio de Janeiro after one lifeguard at the Olympic pool was snapped looking mind-numbingly bored.
The pool attendant, clad head-to-toe in the famous yellow and red was pictured head in hands, watching on with a look in his eye that just screamed: “What am I doing here?”
And naturally, as is often the way these days, the pic was spotted by keen Twitter users, who eagerly chimed in with their own jokes.
One user wrote: “Surely a lifeguard at the Olympic Pool in Rio is the most redundant job in history.”
He added the incredible hashtag ‘IThinkTheyCanAllSwim’ to round off the gag.
Meanwhile, one user simply quipped: “Worlds [sic] most useless job – lifeguard at Rio Olympics 2016.”
