“We Have Not Extended Any Letter To Adele”, NFL And Pepsi Spurn Singer’s Super Bowl Claim

The NFL and Pepsi repudiate Adele’s claim of being offered to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime, which she rejected.

The Sun had nourished rumors regarding the singer being the ‘most wanted’ choice to perform at the event.

It quoted an NFL ‘source’ as saying, “There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organizers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up. She’s sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers. It’s Adele’s nerves that are the issue — it hasn’t been an easy sell.”

The British-singer addressed the story during her performance at Staple Center, Sunday. “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, come on, that show is not about music. I know I’m not Beyoncé, I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

NFL and Pepsi issued a joint press release, Sunday, August 14, stating that although they’d love to have Adele, they haven’t made an offer to the Hello singer or anyone else.

“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.

However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”

The 2017 Super Bowl is slated to take place at Houston’s NRG Stadium on February 5, and will be aired on Fox.

In February, 115million US viewers tuned in to watch Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars in an explosive performance which was recorded as the third-most watched event in TV broadcast history.

We doubt Adele will do the gig due to her stage fright.

She avoids concerts like a plague and has only just managed to play a few where she cracks lots of jokes in-between performances to get her nerves back.
