'That is NOT Fair!' X Factor fans in shock as Dermot O'Leary announces 'odd' change to voting system - Mirror

X Factor fans were left stunned after a huge change to the show was announced this evening.

Just moments into tonight's episode, Dermot O'Leary revealed a new twist; fans will be able to vote for their favourite acts before they've even performed.

Previously, voting lines opened at the end of each programme to make the competition fair for all acts competing regardless of what time they stepped out on stage.

However, the rule change means that viewers can vote without watching contestants perform.

Some of those tuning in were not happy with the new twist because it means that the public will no longer be basing their decisions on performance, meaning X Factor is now purely about favouritsim.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Lol why is the voting open at the star before anyone has performed. You will just vote for the person you like not on the talent #xfactor."

Another then added: "Odd opening the voting before anyone has sung #XFactor."

Moments later, a different viewer added: "The fact that you can vote before any of them have even sang shows it's a popularity contest and not a singing contest. #XFactor."

Shortly afterwards, another commented: "Why is the vote open before they've sung surely that isn't fair in any way? #XFactor."
