5 soldiers injured as troops encounter IED explosion in Borno

Maiduguri - Troops of the Nigerian Army engaged in the war against terrorist group Boko Haram in North-East on Saturday morning encountered an explosion triggered by an improvised explosive device planted by the sect.

Five soldiers suffered fatal injuries during the explosion which happened at about 9:10am between Banki junction and Bama as they conducted escort patrol from Pulka to Maiduguri, reports Premium Times.

The troops, who are of the 122 Task Force Battalion, Pulka, in Borno State, ran into the land mine between Banki junction and Bama as they conducted escort patrol from Pulka to Maiduguri.



It is believed that the insurgents planted the explosives in the night.
