A 21-year-old trader, Yusuf Adam, was on Thursday arraigned before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos State for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy.
The accused, who resides at Alakuko Area, suburb of Lagos, is being tried for sexual assault, which he pleaded not guilty.
During court session, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, that the offence was committed on February 10 at an uncompleted building located at Area 1 Estate, Alakuko, Lagos.
Donny said that the accused lured the victim, a six-year-old boy, to the building under the pretence of sending him on an errand.
“The accused sexually assaulted the boy by penetrating through his anus,” he said.
The prosecutor further said that the accused and the victim stay on the same street.
He said the offence contravened Section 135(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
In her verdict, Abegunde granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till March 8 for mention.
