Jurgen Klopp has revealed talks over a new contract with Emre Can are progressing.
The midfielder has 18 months on his current deal.
Klopp has often placed a huge amount of faith in the 23-year-old who is believed to be on his way to becoming a fantastic player.
And his manager has echoed Can’s words earlier in the week, by insisting he is happy at Liverpool.
‘It makes no sense to talk about it,’ replied Klopp when asked about Can’s stand off with the club.
“We are in talks. Emre Can likes to be here. There are talks, nothing else to say,” said the Liverpool manager.
“Until the final year starts, no problems in this moment. Good talks held with a lot of other players.”
Can has already insisted the hold up is not about money, dismissing the idea salary is the main issue
The German is merely seeking assurances about the direction the club will be taking in the future.
‘I am happy and I am still contracted here,’ he said.
