Tottenham captain and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been arrested for drink driving ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Monday.
Hugo Lloris was stopped by police in his car in central London at around 2.20am on Friday morning.
Lloris subsequently failed a roadside breathalyser test before being taken to Charing Cross Police Station, where he spent around seven hours in custody.
The France international was then released on bail and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 11.
“A man has been charged following a routine patrol stop in Gloucester Place, W1,” read a statement from the Metropolitan Police.
“Hugo Lloris, 31, of East Finchley, was charged with drink driving on Friday, 24 August. He has been bailed to return to Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 11 September.”
He was allowed to return home on foot at 11:00am on Friday morning and refused to answer questions from reporters.
Lloris has been with Tottenham since 2012 and has made 254 appearances for the north London club.
