David Gandy becomes a father for the first time

David Gandy has become a father for the first time after his barrister girlfriend Stephanie Mendoros gave birth to a baby girl named Matilda last week.

The male model, 38, announced the happy news via his Instagram page on Wednesday afternoon, posting a sweet snap of his newborn daughter snuggled close to him.

Alongside the shot, the proud father wrote: 'Daddy, Dora and new addition Matilda out for our first dog walk together this morning.

'Baby Matilda was born last week, both mother and baby doing incredibly well. Only worrying thing is I'm now totally outnumbered by females in my house.'

David confirmed the couple's first child was due 'any time now' as he attended the launch of the new Range Rover Evoque at The Old Truman Brewery in London on November 22.

The proud father, who is Britain's highest-paid male model, has been dating top barrister Stephanie for two years.

He confirmed the happy news back in June when he spoke about impending parenthood for the first time, joking: 'I think we're going to need a bigger car.'

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, David said: 'We're expecting our first in November. We're both thrilled. Absolutely delighted.

'It's our first. It's all very new to us. We're taking every day and week as it comes. It should be fun. We don't know I it's a boy or a girl and we're not planning to find out.'

The couple will raise their baby girl at Essex-born David's home in Fulham, south-west London.

The model, reported to be worth £12 million, has previously said he dreams of having a big family one day.

He said: 'My sister has five children. So I have five nephews and nieces. We have great fun together bouncing around on the trampoline when I go to visit them. Dora too. They all want to play. I've seen them growing up. It's a great family.'
