Aaron Wan-Bissaka reveals Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is main force behind Manchester United drive for young blood this summer

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is one of main reasons behind Manchester United's youth drive this summer.

United brought in 21-year-old Daniel James earlier this summer, and with Wan-Bissaka's arrival, Solskjaer's plan to invest in youth is clear to see.

The highly-rated right back was officially unveiled as a United player on Saturday and Wan-Bissaka revealed how he wanted to be a part of a new era at Old Trafford.

'I'm excited to finally sign for this team,' Wan-Bissaka said. 'As a kid, every kid wants to play for a team like this. So I'm grateful and it's an honour to represent this club.

'Ole has reassured me about his plans, what he is going to do with the team.

'That is something I want to be a part of. It was the gaffer's decision and his plan to rebuild, and to bring the team back to where it is supposed to be. I wanted to be a part of that plan.'

The 21-year-old has been lauded for his defensive abilities which has earned him the nickname 'The Spider'.

Wan-Bissaka explains it's down to his ability to lunge for a tackle.

'"The Spider" is about the range and length of my legs when I'm lunging to tackle the ball. That's where the nickname comes from.'

While defending is one of Wan-Bissaka's strengths, he admitted that it wasn't something he focused on when he was younger as he originally played as a striker and that he idolised Thierry Henry as a child.

However, coming up against former United winger Wilfried Zaha in training at Palace made him appreciate the influence he had at the opposite end of the pitch.
