Arsenal close in on move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.

Arsenal are increasingly confident of clinching a deal to bring Dani Ceballos to the Emirates.

Ceballos is preparing to leave Real Madrid, Arsenal's next pre-season tour opponents, this summer but only on loan as he and the Spanish giants believe he has a long-term future at the Bernabeu.

Such a deal would suit Arsenal who are in the market for a central midfielder after losing Aaron Ramsey on a free to Juventus but are having to work on a tight budget this summer.

And belief is growing that Ceballos will be that man, despite interest in the highly-rated 22-year-old from their north London rivals Tottenham.

Landing Ceballos temporarily would allow head coach Unai Emery to fill the Ramsey void without having to splash out a transfer fee, allowing him to divert his transfer funds elsewhere.

He also wants Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha, Celtic's Kieran Tierney and a new centre back with head of football Raul Sanllehi leaving America, where Arsenal are currently on tour, as the club try to step up their transfer business.

So far this summer they have landed teenage prospect Gabriel Martinelli in a £6million deal from Ituano.

French defender William Saliba will have a medical on Tuesday after Arsenal agreed a £27m deal with St Etienne but he will be returning to the French club on loan.

Emery said, on Arsenal's transfer plans: 'I only want to sign three or four players only if we can be sure they are coming to improve our squad.

'There are a lot of names and the club is working. Edu is very close to me every day and also with Kroenke family.

'I want to send a message to all our supporters that we want to do the best squad possible.'
