Manchester United 'closing in on signing Lyon starlet Florent Da Silva'

Manchester United are in 'advanced negotiations' to bring in Lyon starlet Florent Da Silva this summer.

A report in L'Equipe reveals that the teenage midfielder has caught the eye of those at Old Trafford and, given he is out of contract next summer, United are said to be looking to make their move.

Da Silva, 16, competed with Lyon's reserves last season in the fourth tier of French football but he has also caught the eye on occasion when training with the first team at the club.

While Da Silva was largely monitored in his performances for Lyon's reserves, the teenager did go on to make two appearances in the UEFA Youth League against Ajax and Barcelona.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has looked to youth in his transfer strategy so far and likely sees Da Silva as a prospect for the future.

The club have already acquired 21-year-old pair Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, with both pushing for starting roles in the 2019-20 campaign.

Solskjaer wants more additions as he looks to close the gap on their rivals but while Da Silva would not be expected to add to the first team squad initially, the club are said to be pushing to buy him out of his Lyon deal in a bid to secure him this summer.

Reports in France say that Da Silva is one of the most sought-after young players in the country and a player Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is keen to keep.
