Marcus Rashford defends Manchester United team-mate Jesse Lingard over Snapchat holiday video 'mistake'

Marcus Rashford has defended Jesse Lingard over the holiday video that landed the England international in trouble with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Lingard filmed inside the luxury suite he was sharing with Rashford, former United player Ro-Shaun Williams and their friend Jamal Branker on holiday in Miami this summer. Lingard could be heard swearing on several occasions as he went from room to room before filming Branker simulating having sex on his bed.

It's understood that Lingard intended to save the video but ended up posting it on his Snapchat account instead. Club sources confirmed that an unhappy Solskjaer would speak to the 26-year-old England international about the incident.

When asked about it in Perth on United's tour of Australia, Rashford defended his friend and team-mate, saying: 'From what I've seen of it, people have to understand that he was just enjoying his holiday. It was a mistake, but there is not much more I can say about that.'

The England striker has just committed his future to United by signing a new contract worth in excess of £200,000-a-week, and is now determined to help the club catch up rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

'For me, that just puts an even bigger challenge to us,' said Rashford. 'We never shy from a challenge, we have to move forward as a team.

'It has always been a goal to get us back to where we should be. It wasn't a hard decision. I think we have to take it one game at a time. But for us we can't look too far ahead, we just have to concentrate on ourselves.'
