The France midfielder seems to have his heart set on a move away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid and Juventus leading the chase for a player valued at around £150million.
Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has already made clear that he is trying to negotiate his client's exit from United despite two years remaining on his contract.
But, according to Spanish newspaper AS, Solskjaer intends to use Pogba's presence on United's pre-season tour of Australia, Singapore and China to convince the 26-year-old to stay.
The United manager believes that the positive atmosphere he has created within the group will lead to a strong start to next season and that Pogba will change his mind.
Solskjaer has a good relationship with Pogba - in stark contrast to his predecessor Jose Mourinho - having previously coached him in United's reserve team during his first spell at the club.
Pogba did return to United on Sunday morning ahead of their flight to Perth for the first leg of pre-season, despite concerns he wouldn't turn up in order to force through a move.
