Zinedine Zidane urged to 'drop his interest in Paul Pogba'

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has encouraged Zinedine Zidane to 'drop his interest in Paul Pogba', according to The Independent.

Perez has asked Zidane to bring Gareth Bale back into his first team plans instead, with Los Blancos struggling to sell the unwanted Wales international.

Pogba is 'desperate to leave Old Trafford' according to agent Mino Raiola, and Zidane has shown an interest in the midfielder.

It is believed the Madrid board are not so fond of the 26-year-old, however, but have reluctantly offered the manager their support.

Despite that, any move to bring Pogba could be hampered by the Spanish club's inability to offload their unwanted players.

The report claims United would not consider a deal for Pogba 'for less than £150m', with Madrid unable to meet the asking price unless they can raise funds.

Bale has been unwilling to force a move away from the Bernabeu and will not lower his wage demands.

James Rodriguez is one of those to have been deemed surplus to requirements but the La Liga giants have rejected a loan offer from Napoli.

Madrid have even been unsuccessful in their attempts to sell goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who was demoted to the bench after Zidane's arrival in March.

The Frenchman is still searching for a creative midfield player, but will have to overcome plenty of obstacles if he is to sign Pogba.
