Police hunt Liverpool fan after a seven-year-old Southampton fan was hit in the face

Hampshire Police have launched an appeal to identify a man after a young Southampton supporter was hit in the face with a gas canister thrown from the Liverpool end at St Mary's last weekend.

The seven-year-old fan suffered minor injuries after a nitrous oxide canister was thrown from the away supporters' section of the Northam Stand during Southampton's game at home to Liverpool last Saturday.

The canister was thrown into the home end, where the boy was sitting, shortly after Roberto Firmino had scored Liverpool's second goal.
