The spread of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria has continued to record rapid increase as the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control showed that there are 238 confirmed cases. On the 6th of April 2020, six (6) new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 35 cases have been discharged and five (5) deaths have been recorded in Nigeria. Of the 6 new cases reported on the 6th of April, two (2) are in Kwara, two (2) are in Edo, one (1) is in FCT and one (1) is in Rivers.
In a move to combat the spread of the pandemic disease,President Muhammadu Buhari directed the cessation of all movements in Lagos and the FCT for an initial period of 14 days which took effect from 11 pm on Monday, 30th March 2020.
This restriction also applies to Ogun State due to its close proximity to Lagos and the high traffic between the two States.
The latest numbers bring Lagos state total cases to 120, followed by Abuja at 48, Osun (20), Edo (11) Oyo (9), Bauchi (6), Akwa Ibom and Kaduna (5), Ogun (4), Enugu, Kwara, Rivers, and Ekiti (2), while Benue and Ondo state recorded one case each.
