He has suspected broken ribs and burns.

According to Steiner who spoke to Formula 1, Romain Grosjean is doing okay and suffered light burns.

Said Steiner

Romain is doing okay, I don’t want to make a medical comment but he had light burns on his hands and ankles. Obviously he’s shaken… I want to thank the rescue crews who are very quick. The marshals and FIA people they did a great job, it was scary”

Everyone on social media expressed their shock and relief at how Grosjean walked out alive, at what would have easily become a tragedy had it not been a case of good engineering and added safety measures.

Here are some of the comments

“You have to thank everyone who has pushed to make this sport safer. How on earth has Romain Grosjean just walked out of this. One of the scariest crashes ever. #BahrainGP”

“The safety measures these cars have are amazing. How on earth Romain Grosjean walked away from that is a miracle. That was the first lap so car will of been full of fuel as well #BahrainGP #F1”

“Absolutely horrifying crash in F1 today, thankfully Grosjean made it out relatively ok and is being evaluated…I don’t use the term miracle often but holy crap” #BahrainGP

“The intensity of that impact sawing the car into two, the cockpit jammed in between the barrier – to see grosjean jump out of that car safe and sound is a sight i’m truly and genuinely grateful FOR. Shows just how far FIA safety tech has come with the halo and survival cell tech”#Bahrain GP

Fellow driver, Lewis Hamilton took to Twitter to express his gratitude and relief at his colleague’s safety, reminding everyone that it’s a risky sporty.

Wrote Hamilton

I’m so grateful Romain is safe. Wow… the risk we take is no joke, for those of you out there that forget that we put our life on the line for this sport and for what we love to do. Thankful to the FIA for the massive strides we’ve taken for Romain to walk away from that safely

We wish him a speedy recovery!
