A Filabusi man reportedly hired a commercial sex worker, spent the night with her at Silver Sands lodge then killed her before inscribing 666 on her belly.
The incident occurred in 2019 and the suspect has been on the run since then.
The suspect Wisdom Mpilwenhle Ndlovu, 25, from Nkankezi in Filabusi was recently arrested and he appeared in court on Saturday, facing a murder charge.
It is alleged that on the morning of June 3, 2019, after having spent the night together, an argument ensued between the two and the man strangled the woman identified as Patience Ndlovu leading to her death.
Ndlovu’s body was found by an employee stashed under the bed.
Bulawayo magistrate, Stephen Ndlovu remanded Wisdom in custody to June 7 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The State represented by Hazel Ncube alleges that Ndlovu hired the services of the now deceased Patience, at Private Lounge in Bulawayo. The two spent the night together at Silver Sands lodge between Fife Street and Jason Moyo along Connaught Avenue.
While at the lodge the two had a misunderstanding which degenerated into a fight. Ndlovu strangled Patience resulting in her death.
It is further alleged that after killing her, Ndlovu stole Patience’s cellphone. He then stashed the body under a bed and fled from the scene.
Ncube added that Patience’s body was found by an employee who was cleaning the rooms.
She made a report to the police and a post moterm report showed that the death was a result of Asphyxia Strangulation Cite reports.
In other news, iHarare reported that a Marymount Teachers College student died on Monday at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital where he had been admitted after he was attacked by a machete-wielding gang in Sakubva.
Fortunate Mwenzva (29) was attacked by the unknown assailants as he was looking for transport to Chakohwa early Friday morning.
