Parenting often comes with its share of teachable moments, and a woman on TikTok, @binyelum24, recently shared one involving her young daughter and a mentholated balm that didn’t go as expected.
In the video, she explains how she had previously warned her daughter to avoid a tub of mentholated ointment, locally known as Aboniki balm
Commonly used for sore muscles, headaches, and nasal congestion, the balm is known for its strong, heat-inducing effect. It is definitely not intended for skincare.
However, her daughter, mistaking it for a facial moisturizer, applied the balm generously to her face. The outcome, unsurprisingly, was immediate discomfort.
“After this episode, she went to bed straight,” the mother said, capturing the moment with a mix of concern and humor.
