BREAKING: Cholera, Other Diseases Hit Adamawa Correctional Centres As 28 Inmates Are Infected

A health emergency is unfolding across correctional facilities in Adamawa State as outbreaks of cholera and other highly contagious hygiene-related diseases have struck inmates in at least two custodial centres.

 

The alarming development was disclosed on Friday by the Chairman of Jada Local Government Council, Salihu Ahmed, during a free medical outreach programme in the area. 

 

According to him, no fewer than 28 inmates at the Kojoli Custodial Centre are currently battling cholera infections, while additional cases of waterborne and skin-related diseases, including scabies, have been reported at the Jada facility.

Nearly half of African currencies have shown signs of depreciation despite steady development across the continent, according to the latest edition of the Monthly Developments in the African Macroeconomic Environment report published by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) for June 2025.

The report, which analyzed exchange rate dynamics for May 2025, revealed a mixed performance across African economies.

While some currencies appreciated or remained stable, others experienced significant declines, reflecting the continent’s exposure to global economic volatility and domestic fiscal pressures.

2027 presidency: South East solidly behind Tinubu – Umahi

 

The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s achievements so far, declaring that the South East geo-political zone is solidly behind the President and will support his re-election bid in 2027.
