Man, 33, remanded for allegedly defiling minor } vanguard

Apapa Senior Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded Chibuike Dike, 33, in prison for allegedly defiling an eight-year old girl. Dike, who resides at No.15, Okem Close, Ilufe, Ojo, Lagos, pleaded guilty to a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and defilement.

The prosecutor, Insp. Tony Elibeh, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 2 at his residence. Elibeh said the accused dragged the girl to his apartment and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent. He said the girl was rescued by neighbours who heard her screaming from Dike’s apartment.


Elibeh said the offences contravened sections 137 and 166 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The Senior Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya, ordered the accused remanded in prison in view of his plea. The case was adjourned till March 30 for review of facts and sentencing.
