Cops discovered the bodies of the two victims, named locally as Liz Edwards and daughter Katie, at their house in Spalding, Lincs, yesterday afternoon.
They are believed to have been stabbed.
Liz, originally from Edinburgh, was a dinner lady at nearby St Paul's Primary School.
Two people have been arrested but Lincolnshire Police refused to confirm the charge.
Devastated relatives have taken to social media to pay tribute to the pair.
Liz's partner Graham Green posted a picture of the couple on Facebook with the message: "My babe has gone but you will always in my heart forever and ever and ever r.i.p"
Helena Coalho, a friend of Katie's, replied: "I wish they just came back i miss them so much katie was like a sister to my and her mum was like a second mother to me
Graham added: "I miss then to (sic) i want then back to me and liz had so many plans to make. my love has gone and her daughter she was 13 both lifes gone."
