Lagos' school kidnap: Family wants relative swapped with ailing captive

Family members of one of the ailing persons that was abducted by suspected militants last Thursday, at the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, in Eredo Local Council Development Area of Epe, have appealed to the abductors to release their relative for treatment, saying they were ready to swap another family member for the sick captive, Vanguard reports.

The family said it had managed to raise N1 million, which was contributed by relatives and friends.

A strange call, suspected to be from the kidnappers, was received at 1.35p.m. yesterday, but the person at the other end was said to be silent.

The kidnappers were said to have contacted three families at 2:00a.m, 2:50a.m and 4:00a.m, a development that led the parents and school management to convene an emergency meeting, which lasted till about 5:30pm according to News24.

The kidnappers, it was learned, warned the parents not to disclose the ransom demanded to security agencies, as failure to adhere would jeopardise the safety of their loved ones.
