BBC presenter goes into LABOUR minutes after appearing on live TV

A BBC presenter went into labour minutes after reading the news on live TV - and gave birth to a baby boy with a fellow newsreader by her side.

Victoria Fritz, who reads the business news on BBC Breakfast, had been discussing easyJet's latest figures on Tuesday morning's show.

But she had more important news to deliver and went into labour while still on set.

Her husband, Dan, was stuck in traffic on the M6, so co-presenter Sally Nugent, 45, stepped up as Victoria's birthing partner.

After welcoming a baby boy at St Mary's Hospital in Manchester, Victoria tweeted her thanks, describing it as a 'BBC Breakfast team effort'.

'My heartfelt thanks to @sallynugent & St Mary's drs&midwives who helped me deliver my little boy yesterday. A @BBCBreakfast team effort!' she tweeted.

Sally also took to social media to say: 'You won't believe what happened after work yesterday. Huge congrats to our very clever @VFritzNews'

She added: 'It's going to make a brilliant story for his 21st birthday! What an incredible day xx'

Speaking on BBC Breakfast today, newsreader Naga Munchetty explained why another presenter, Sean Farrington, was reading the business news.

She joked that Victoria had 'decided to be even more productive that she is in the workplace'.

Naga said: 'There she was, you know, just presenting very happily, not an issue in the world.

'And then she decided to have a bit of an event later on.'
