Mushin is my favourite place in Lagos — Jacobs

A gospel musician from The Netherlands, Mrs. Dorien Jacobs, tells BAYO AKINLOYE about her marriage to a Nigerian and life in the country
When was your first time in Nigeria and why did you visit?
I visited Nigeria for the first time in 2005. I was in the country to get wedded to my husband. We came into the country that year to have our traditional wedding.
What’s your favourite fun spot in Nigeria?
My favourite place in Nigeria is Mushin in Lagos.
How does it feel living among Nigerians?

Nigerians are very warm people. Every time I visit, they embrace me well. They are hospitable and warm. These qualities are what endeared Nigerians to me.

What Nigerian food did you first taste?
The first Nigerian meal I ate was pounded yam.
Which Nigerian local dish do you enjoy the most?
I love pounded yam, plantain while my favourite is suya.
Tell a story about your life in Nigeria?
I will describe it as the best life ever. I am treated like a queen. The truth is that I always feel at home and welcome.
Which places have you been to in Nigeria?
I have visited so many places like Erio-Ekiti, Ife, and Ibadan. There are other things I find fascinating about the country. Two of such that readily come to mind are the vehicular traffic and (the taste of) bush meat.
