Riyad Mahrez Reveals How Leicester City Blocked His Transfer To Arsenal In 2016

Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez believes the club worked behind the scenes to block his proposed transfer to Arsenal in 2016 following the Foxes’ surprise Premier League title success, according to the Daily Mail.

Riyad Mahrez made no secret of his desire to leave the King Power Stadium, and has failed to replicate the form that saw him crowned PFA Player of the Year in April 2016.

“They said: ‘Yes, there will be no problems if something comes up’ said Mahrez of Leicester’s handling of the Gunners’ bid. “But behind the scenes they were blocking me – talking to clubs but just not wanting to sell me.”

“But I’m confident. Contract or no contract, I believe I will get to the top. When you have quality, and show it, there’s no problem.”
