Amanda Holden has revealed that welcoming the arrival of her now-six-year-old daughter Hollie helped her 'continue to live' following the stillbirth of her son Theo.
The popular TV personality, 47, endured the heartbreaking tragedy of her baby's passing in 2011, and went on to fear that she had inadvertently caused it.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning on Monday, the Britain's Got Talent judge fought back tears as she said: 'There was no reason for Theo’s stillbirth and so I was partly relieved, because I thought, "Good, we can have another baby."
'Part of me was like, "Oh god, what have I done? Is it something I have done? Was it because I ate those McDonald’s fries the day before?"'
Recounting the horrific day of Theo's stillbirth, Amanda — who is married to music producer Chris Hughes — said: 'I was watching Myleene [Klass] on Loose Women. She was pregnant with Hero at the time, who is the age Theo would have been.
'I then thought, "God I haven’t felt him move for a while." I had a bath, then a coffee, still nothing. I then got in the car and drove to hospital.
'My lovely midwife, Jackie, told me she couldn’t find a heartbeat and that was the start of the horrible day. You have to then deliver this baby.
'That’s why it’s different from a miscarriage. Giving birth and having a miscarriage are two very different things.'
Of her decision to hold Theo after his delivery, Admitted: 'I was scared to do that, too. I had a mixture of feelings. It’s a really angry feeling that it’s happened and being scared that you don’t know what a baby that’s dead looks like. He was still my baby.'
However, Amanda, who also has 12-year-old daughter Alexa with her husband, admitted that becoming a mother to Hollie the following year proved to be a hugely therapeutic experience.
