Ekiti: Oye, Ikole LGs Warn Youths Against Ballot Snatching

Mr Ayodeji Aluko, Coordinating Director of Oye Local Government of Ekiti State has warned youths in the community to shun ballot- snatching in the Saturday elections.

Aluko gave the warning during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oye-Ekiti on Friday.

He explained that due to the hard work of the Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, there was no electoral violence in any part of Ekiti during the Feb.23 elections.

Aluko ‎said he had held security and intelligent meeting with the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security outfits to ensure peaceful election.

He stressed that any youth caught snatching ballot papers or causing riot in the local government would be arrested and made to face the law.



In the same vein, the Coordinating Director of Ikole Local Government Area, Mr Olatunbosun Fasanmi, has admonished youths in the area not to indulge in electoral violence.

According to him, adequate security for lives and property, ahead of the Saturday election had been provided.

Fasanmi said he had held meetings with the traditional Obas and chiefs, during whih he called on them to warn youths in their community to shun electoral violence.

The council boss said that the security agencies in the local government were determined to check any form of electoral malpractice during the election.

Fasanmi said vehicles that would be used to convey the security officers around the town during the election had been provided.

He, therefore, advised parents to warn their children to desist from perpetrating electoral offences such as snatching ballot papers and causing riot.
