Marcos Rojo hopes to force January exit from Manchester United

Marcos Rojo has targeted leaving Manchester United in the next transfer window if he cannot force himself into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans.

The defender had already fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford under the United boss but faces an even tougher battle to get back into the side following the summer arrival of Harry Maguire.

But with desires to win back a place in the Argentina squad, Rojo concedes he must secure first-team football following a summer where a potential move to Everton collapsed.

'I had the possibility of going to Everton, but due to the decisions of the club or the manager it wasn’t possible,' he told Argentine site Ole.

'Now I have to fight until December and, if it doesn’t work out, I will try to leave.

'The qualifiers and the Copa America are coming and I want to be part of that. I don’t want to be out again, I want to exhaust all the possibilities and compete to be here.”
