'Neymar will RETIRE at PSG'

Neymar may be forced to spend the rest of his career at Paris Saint-Germain unless he lowers his salary demands according to La Liga president Javier Tebas.

The Brazil star had been desperate to leave the French champions during the summer transfer window, with Barcelona keen on re-signing the forward who they sold for a world record £198million in 2017.

But the Spanish side struggled to put together a financial package to finance a move, and interest from Real Madrid never materialised into a genuine offer, meaning Neymar will have to stay put in the French capital until at least January.

Tebas claims that the nature of the forward's move to PSG, including the volatile market, and his existing wage demands means he is priced out of a move to transfer to another club.

'The problem of not coming back now [to Barcelona] has to do with his own departure to PSG,' Tebas said. 'It was an off-market transfer, it was only possible to happen with 'traps' to increase sponsorships.

'When you do it out of the market, it is impossible to sell again at this price. In view of the market, Neymar will retire at PSG unless he lowers his salary and also his PSG claims.'

Neymar's current contract with the French champions earns him £32m a year. His current deal runs until June 2022.
