Hilda Baci Sets Guinness World Record with Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has set yet another historic milestone after successfully preparing the world’s largest pot of jollof rice, officially earning a new Guinness World Record (GWR).

The 28-year-old culinary sensation cooked approximately 200 bags of rice in a massive 22,619-litre pot measuring six metres in both width and height. Though she initially planned to use 250 bags of Basmati rice, weighing challenges led her to adjust the quantity. Nevertheless, she completed the extraordinary feat in just nine hours.

The event, tagged the Gino World Jollof Festival, took place at the car park of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, where thousands of fans, entertainers, and food vendors gathered to witness the record-breaking moment. The rice was later shared among over 30,000 people, with takeaway packs distributed and attendees even encouraged to bring their own coolers due to the surplus.

The Federal Government hailed Baci’s achievement, with the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, represented by Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, commending her innovation and global impact.

“We encourage more young Nigerians to channel their creativity and talents into ventures that will not only benefit them personally but also contribute to national development and global recognition,” Idris said.

Top Nigerian celebrities and influencers, including Funke Akindele, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and Tomike Adeoye, were present to show support, alongside students from Bethesda Home and School for the Blind.

This remarkable feat further cements Hilda Baci’s reputation as a global culinary ambassador, once again spotlighting Nigerian cuisine on the international stage.
