Police carried out controlled explosion near to London Overground station Enfield Town this morning
Police have blown up an unattended briefcase left outside a north London coffee shop that sparked a terror alert.
The alarm was raised after the "suspicious item" was discovered outside of a Caffe Nero coffee shop in Enfield, London, at around 8.30am this morning.
A cordon was established around the cafe closing the Palace Exchange shopping centre and a section of the high street - around 100 yards from London Overground station Enfield Town
One market trader suggested the item was a discarded briefcase.
“We just opened up as normal this morning," market trader Terrence Marritt told the Enfield Independent.
"Then the briefcase was found, police cordoned off one area, then pushed us further back until the entire market was cordoned off.
