Bayelsa guber: Army raids hideout, arrests 5, recovers hand grenade - TheSun .

Troops of Operation Pulo Shield (OP PS) have announced the arrest of five suspected po­litical thugs at their hideout in Okaka, Rivers State.

The Commander of OP PS, Major General Alani Gafar Okunola who dis­closed this at the OP PS headquarters said the suspects who are currently being interrogated were arrested after a tip off.

According to him, one 36 hand gre­nade, two empty AK rifle magazines, a pair of military uniform, a combat shoe and a bag containing personal belong­ings were recovered.

He also disclosed that during an inten­sive patrol at Mansonkri fishing camp in Nembe and Southern Ijaw creek, OP PS troops recovered 8 pump action car­tridges and various types of military rank badges, jungle boots, one cartridge car­rier, three waist belts and three NA infan­try line yards.

Okunola save an assurance that the operation which would be a continuous one even after the Bayelsa State gover­norship election, said the military would discharge its duties with all sense of pro­fessionalism.

“I want to assure you that we will not relent in our effort at making sure that ac­tivities of these hoodlums are adequately checkmated especially now that the Bay­elsa state gubernatorial election is around the corner” he added.
