Troops of Operation Pulo Shield (OP PS) have announced the arrest of five suspected political thugs at their hideout in Okaka, Rivers State.
The Commander of OP PS, Major General Alani Gafar Okunola who disclosed this at the OP PS headquarters said the suspects who are currently being interrogated were arrested after a tip off.
According to him, one 36 hand grenade, two empty AK rifle magazines, a pair of military uniform, a combat shoe and a bag containing personal belongings were recovered.
He also disclosed that during an intensive patrol at Mansonkri fishing camp in Nembe and Southern Ijaw creek, OP PS troops recovered 8 pump action cartridges and various types of military rank badges, jungle boots, one cartridge carrier, three waist belts and three NA infantry line yards.
Okunola save an assurance that the operation which would be a continuous one even after the Bayelsa State governorship election, said the military would discharge its duties with all sense of professionalism.
“I want to assure you that we will not relent in our effort at making sure that activities of these hoodlums are adequately checkmated especially now that the Bayelsa state gubernatorial election is around the corner” he added.
