President Muhammadu Buhari dashed the hopes of millions of Nigerians on Sunday after he refused to unveil the names of looters and the amount of looted assets recovered so far in the country.
According to Punch, the president had initially promised to disclose the figure during his Democracy Day speech.
He however, assured the nation that the ministry of information and culture would publish the details periodically, adding that a "significant amount of assets" had been recovered.
In his speech, published on The Sun, Buhari maintained that his administration set out to change Nigeria right "from day one" in office.
"The EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) was given the freedom to pursue corrupt officials and the judiciary was alerted on what Nigerians expect them in the fight against corruption," Buhari said.
