The French gymnast landed badly causing his left leg to buckle under him as he crumpled to the floor in pain.
However, the defiant 26-year-old has vowed to return to the next games, Tokyo 2020, posting a video message from his hospital bed.
Ait Said is recovering at the Vitoria Barra hospital in Rio after he underwent surgery having suffered a double fracture of his left leg.
Ait Said urged his team-mates to continue fighting.
On a video on his Facebook page, he said: "I’m behind all my pals
"They managed to keep their act together after my fall. That must have been really difficult.
"They were real warriors. So come on boys, be strong, I’m with you.
"Believe me, the Tokyo 2020 adventure is still alive," he added.
"As soon as I’m recovered, believe me, we’ll go back to training and we’ll go after those Olympics."
French team leader Corrine Moustard-Callon had previously confirmed Said had broken his leg.
"He is in the hospital with a doctor now.
"We don't know what happened, except that it was his tibia. We will do more exams to see if it just the bone.
"It is very difficult for the team. He was one of the friendliest on the team which is very difficult - he came to win a medal and gave everything 200 per cent."
