Manchester City star Yaya Toure ‘charged with drink driving after being pulled over by police in London’

YAYA TOURE has been charged with drink driving after being pulled over by police in London, according to reports.

The Manchester City star was released on bail and is set to appear at Barkingside Magistrates Court on Tuesday December 13.

Toure, 33, was driving through Dagenham on Monday November 28, when cops pulled him over, reports the Express.

He was tested at the roadside and again in custody before being charged with driving a motor vehicle with an alcohol level allegedly above the legal limit.

Toure claimed in 2012 he is teetotal due to his religious beliefs.

After being named Man of the Match in a 2-0 win against Newcastle, the Ivorian was presented with a traditional bottle of champagne.

But Toure turned it down and said: “I don’t drink because I am a Muslim, so you keep it.”

Champagne was consequently phased out and now players receive a small trophy instead.

Toure has only just regained his place in City’s team following a fallout between his agent Dimitri Seluk and Pep Guardiola.

Seluk claimed the Etihad boss “humiliated” his client by leaving him out of the club’s Champions League squad.

Guardiola warned Toure – who he also managed at Barcelona between 2008 and 2010 – that his City career would be over unless the midfielder apologised for comments made by Seluk.

Toure apologised and pledged his future to City in November – and was handed his first Premier League appearance of the season against Crystal Palace later that month, scoring twice.
