Arsenal man Arsene Wenger has insisted the club are not close to signing any new players amid reports linking the club to Jonny Evans.
Jonny Evans was a rumoured target for Manchester City in the summer and has since been linked with a number of other top-flight clubs, including Arsenal.
A report in The Sun suggested that the Northern Irishman is on the verge of a switch to the Emirates Stadium, but Wenger has denied that such a move is about to take place.
“No, I cannot give you any news on any transfer because we are not close to signing anybody,” the Frenchman said in his press conference after Arsenal lost 4-2 at Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup.
“We signed a Greek boy [Konstantinos Mavropanos] who looks quite good in training but apart from that, we have not done anything. Will we be out there to do something? Yes we will.”
