Businessman In Court Over Alleged Forgery

The Police on Friday arraigned a 51-year-old businessman, Lawrence Monsodi, in a Kubwa Grade1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged forgery and criminal trespass.

Monsodi was docked for criminal trespass, using as genuine a forged document and forgery.

The prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the defendant criminally entered Plot No. 112 at Gindin Dutse Layout, Kubwa, Abuja on Nov. 11.

He said the defendant used a purported Conveyance of Provisional approval in favour of M.N.L. Nigeria Limited, Technical Drawing Plan (TDP) Bwari Area Council, receipts as a genuine document knowing that they were forged.


Olanipekun said the defendant deprived one Lydia Wya from having access to the said plot as a result of his act.


He said the offences contravened Sections 342, 363 and 366 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.

The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe granted the defendant bail in the sum N500, 000 with one reliable surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

He adjourned the matter until May 10 for hearing. (NAN)
