[VIDEO] BREAKING: Chaos At Train Station As Passengers Allege Ticket Racketeering

Passengers at the Kubwa train station in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday caused a scene at the station, alleging that after waiting for three hours to get their tickets for the train ride, the station officials allegedly resorted to ticket racketeering by selling the tickets at inflated prices of about N4,000 to N5,000 per ticket to the highest bidders.
This led to a mammoth crowd of disgruntled passengers holding up the train from moving and seen on videos taking on train station officials who wore tee-shirts marked “Railway Command”.

In videos that have gone viral on social media and some posted on Twitter by @momodee, angry passengers were seen having a shouting match with train station officials accused of ticket racketeering.
A friend sent me this currently happening @ kubwa station. The people are protesting. The people on queue hardly get ticket and those in charge selling tickets for 4k/5k to VIPs. It's high time ticketing is automated.

It would be recalled that the honourable minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, recently paid a visit to the Abuja train station and was seen on video reprimanding the train station officials for ticket racketeering.
In the video, the minister also warned that if he heard of any repeat of their corrupt practices, he would first sack the most senior of the officials and then deal with others.
With the anti-corruption stance of the Muhammadu Buhari administration which many say is more rhetoric than action, it is left to be seen whether Amaechi will match his words with action and investigate the latest incident and deal with all those found culpable.

Many social media commentators also called for full automation of the ticketing system at the train station to cut down on incidents of ticket racketeering.
