Paris Saint-Germain increasingly confident of reaching agreement with Ajax for Matthijs De Ligt

PSG are increasingly confident of reaching an agreement with Ajax for Matthijs De Ligt.

The French club are willing to offer more than main rivals Barcelona and have held further talks over the past 24 hours.

The 19-year-old centre back has attracted widespread interest from Europe's top clubs following an impressive season in Holland.

The Ajax captain lifted the Eredivisie title and also reached the Champions League semi-finals.

De Ligt was on the losing side on Sunday night as Holland were beaten 1-0 by Portugal in the UEFA Nations League final.

The defender revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo asked him to move to Juventus following the clash.

'He asked me to come to Juventus,' De Ligt told NOS. 'I was a little shocked by that question, that's why I laughed. I didn't understand him at first.

'Now I will go on vacation, I'll think carefully about what is best for me and then I'll decide. For a young player like me, it's important to go to a club where I can play consistently. That's the main issue.'

De Ligt made 55 appearances for the Dutch outfit last season in which he scored seven goals and contributed four assists.
