Virgil van Dijk is dribbled past for the first time in FIFTY games

Virgil van Dijk was dribbled past for the first time in 50 games in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Arsenal at Anfield.

Arsenal's record £75 million signing, Nicolas Pepe, was the man to find his way past the centre-back when he sped down the right wing in the first half.

The last player to achieve that feat was former Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino in Liverpool's clash with the Magpies in March 2018.

Despite that small success, Van Dijk was impressive again as the Reds sent a message out to the rest of the Premier League with a commanding display.

Liverpool penned Arsenal into their own half from kick-off and went 1-0 up four minutes before the break through Joel Matip's header.

Jurgen Klopp's side continued to dominate and Mohamed Salah made it two with a brilliant solo run and finish at the start of the second half.

With Arsenal on the ropes, Salah struck again on 58 minutes when he fired home a penalty after David Luiz had dragged the forward down inside the box.

Lucas Torreira scored a late consolaton for the visitors but Liverpool ran out comfortable winners to stay top of the Premier League.
