According to Steve Vickers, Zhakata is currently hospitalized at Parirenyatwa Hospital with broken ribs and a collapsed lung after thieves pounced on him in Chitungwiza.

The 33-year-old registered nurse though badly injured is currently in stable condition and is recovering at the hospital.

Zhakata is a die-hard Warriors supporter. He made international sports headlines last year when he hitch-hiked all the way to Cairo, Egypt, where the AFCON games were taking place – a journey that took him 51-days.

Zhakata did this just so that he could support, the Warriors, who had qualified for the games.

Unfortunately, his biggest dream which was to watch the Zimbabwean Warriors play live in Egypt never came to pass as the team was knocked out of the competition before he arrived.

However, for his troubles, Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad awarded him with a free ticket to the games, accommodation during his stay in Cairo, and an air ticket back home to Zimbabwe.
